Location: Port Gentil, Gabon

Type of Contract: 12 months CDD with the possibility of extension and/or conversion to CDI

Description

As a member of Assala’s Gabon-based finance team, you will oversee the management of two other team members and support the efforts in auditing activities as well as protecting the company’s interests when challenged by external Joint Venture and State auditors, with respect to legislation and contracts, especially concerning PSCs and JOAs.

In this capacity, you will:

• Assist the Audit Manager in planning and executing the approved audit programme;
• Support with DGH and JV audits under the supervision of the Audit Manager;
• Contribute towards work on Assala-directed audits under the supervision of the Audit Manager;
• Provide support as and when required for other ad hoc audits such as tax audits, PID-PIH, FDCL, among others;
• Ensure that audits requests are consistent with audit rights allowed by legislation or contract and challenge the ones which are unreasonable and non-contractual;
• Maintain company audit calendar and ensure that deadlines are respected;
• Ensure that the process of reply and close-out is planned and monitored, and that delays in the process can be explained.

You will be successful in this capacity if you are able to demonstrate a high level of attention to detail and strong analytical skills to enable you to effectively assess audit evidence and determine if the evidence is sufficient, relevant and accurate. You will also be able to work in a collaborative manner and forge strong working relationships with colleagues, especially the legal department to ensure that contracts and legislation are followed, in addition to having specific competencies as enlisted below:

Essential competencies:

• A qualified Accountant with a minimum of 2 years of experience in a recognized audit firm.
• Strong analytical amp; interpersonal skills coupled with the ability to prioritize evolving objectives.
• The ability to communicate fluently and confidently to a high standard in both written and verbal French and English.

This opportunity is being offered on a 12-month CDD, with possible conversion to a permanent role (CDI), subject to performance.
