Job Description

Job title: Senior Drilling Engineer

Type of role: Residential

Location: Port Gentil

Contract type: 12 months CDD with the possibility of extension and/or conversion to CDI

As a member of Assala’s Gabon-based operations team, your role as Senior Drilling Engineer will report to the Drilling Manager and you will support the Drilling Superintendent as well as work in effective collaboration with the members of the Wells Planning Team and Operational Team which includes the Fluid Engineer, Fluid Superintendents, Drilling Engineers, Completion Engineers and Logistic supervisors.


Some of your responsibilities and deliverables will include:

  • Follow and facilitate the drilling activities liaising with the rig team and with other departments in the field;
  • Supervise / mentor the Field Drilling Engineers;
  • Actively contribute and suggest improvements in the safety of operations;
  • Support Wells HSE team to carry regular audits of service companies .
  • Assist with the review and investigation of all FOCUS incidents related to WDE activities;
  • Resolve operational issues and advises on corrective actions when issues are encountered;
  • Ensure that the Drilling, Fluids, Cementing and Completion programs are communicated to the rig and understood by the relevant parties;
  • Lead the pre-section meetings with Service companies and the operational team;
  • Ensure programs are strictly adhered to as well as participate in the performance reviews of the well programs, suggest improvements and follow AAR;
  • Supervise portfolio contracts and makes sure terms and conditions are adhered to in the best interest of the Company;
  • Monitor adherence to Assala’s Drilling policies and raise the MOCs when necessary as well as document all deviations from the well program in close communication with Wells Engineers;
  • Participate in the preparation of call for tenders, the evaluation of technical/commercial offers and recommend awarding strategy;
  • Ensure the contractors under your supervision observe all relevant safety rules;
  • Closely monitor stocks and deliveries of service companies equipment, OCTG and consumables;

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in Engineering
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience in Well Planning and Operations follow up. This should include at least 3 years as Wells Engineer and 2 years of operational experience on the rigs as Field
  • Capable of successfully passing the IWCF, supervisor level 4
  • Fit to work onshore and travel regularly to the field.
